Meditation Monday No. 2

Seeing Your Ideal Weight in the Mirror

It is not what you want that you attract; you attract what you believe to be true.

Neville Goddard

This week’s visualization exercise is for anyone who’s struggling to achieve or maintain their ideal body weight, when dieting and exercise isn’t producing lasting results. Most of us have been there!

Here’s how and why this meditation works.

Consider Neville’s quote above, and then think about your beliefs regarding your current body shape. Chances are, you’ve been going to the gym or counting calories believing that you are over/underweight, unfit, flabby, etc. Combined with this lower-vibration belief about yourself, you probably also believe that it takes hard work and discipline to achieve your ideal body. And there’s plenty of physical evidence in the world reflecting that belief back to you. Open any fitness or nutrition magazine, and you’ll find a plethora of “expert” advice (much of it conflicting), all designed to get you to buy a product, a membership to something, or just the magazine itself. It’s kind of a self-fulfilling prophecy. You believe a) you are not already what you wish to be, and b) that you have to work hard to become something similar to one of those perfect airbrushed models “out there”. So your life reflects that “reality” back to you, proving that you are “right”.

In my practice, there’s a better way. The first thing you must do is experience what it would feel like to already be at the body weight/shape you desire. Then, you meet your reality from that state of belief — and that reality will, without fail, arrange itself perfectly to prove that belief to you. You’ll achieve your ideal body faster than you thought possible, without harm to yourself or anyone, and you’ll have a great time doing it, too!

So for this meditation, you’ll imagine standing in front of a full length mirror, admiring yourself wearing the clothing you would wear if you were at your ideal weight. You’ll do this until it feels real to you, like it has already happened. Then you can relax, knowing that because you are vibrating at the frequency of already being at your desired weight, whatever external effort you engage in will be natural, fun, and will produce permanent change. Permanent, that is, as long as you can maintain this positive belief about yourself.

Have fun!
